Hi all We got the Scalas into this little w/o destroying the car or speakers. We were smart and made a table level to the cargo area, so we could get them lined up. No wiggle room and would only go in perfectly straight. Murphy loves a plan and only minimumly interfered. Now, to get them home. Hope all in the storm affected are OK. Obviously, we didn’t make the beach. Too bad for everyone. Leaving out tomorrow. Going to try to take 3days instead of30hours. That about killed me.5 points

Absolutely. This will be used more for keeping the cool in once the ac is installed. There's a car port in front of the door that shades it from the sun.4 points

You could have lined the walls with that reflective bubble insulation and made it an instant tanning room, just walk through during the right time of the day and your done, quick and easy.3 points

It's ALWAYS been a struggle convincing people around my age that quality audio is ESSENTIAL. IMO it ISN'T an option. If I don't have enough for a quality system, I would get a loan or a job thay pays more, period. Once they hear my system(s), eventually they get bitten by the audio bug at some level as well. A disease im always happy to spread (the others stay dormant 😂) .3 points

Today I got the trim cut for the 2nd HF section, and dusted off the remaining LF section. I'll post a few more photos as those two get done then a few of all four together, but with the completion of one full stack, this thread is largely done. Thanks are in order, and the big three are these: Thanks to @Hornographic for driving and helping me load up those original beat-up factory cabinets. We spent the good part of a full day retrieving them and shared one (not so good) meal at Waffle House, so he took time to do this for FREE. He's been a good friend, mentor and sometimes coworker over the past almost 20 years, and is fully bitten by the Klipsch bug. He's on the borrow-approved list. Thanks to my buddy Dave, who is also a Klipsch fanatic with a set of La Scala's. He's not on this forum, but helped me with a few decisions with these beasts over beer and music, and has also been a good friend for almost 35 years. He's also on the borrow-approved list. Thanks to @MookieStl for design ideas and 16 beautiful corners that he took the time to design. He fabricated them from raw stock, cutting, forming, welding, drilling and polishing, all for FREE in his incredible shop. This project would have stopped for a long time and maybe for good if it weren't for him. I've only known him for a few months, but I consider him a friend. He is of course on the borrow-approved list. Thanks to a bunch of others in this thread for kind words and advice along the way. And finally, I'm sitting here tonight in beautiful Missouri September air, awaiting the imminent birth of our 5th grandchild Eleanor, while tending this fire with my canine sidekick: That wood on top is the old top section (complete with hideous handle cutout) from one of the factory La Scala's. I'm tipping a glass to PWK. I know it is just plywood, but it came from Hope and was maybe once touched by the man himself. Thanks to PWK for designing the speakers we all love, and, in a way, making this project possible too. Thanks, everybody!3 points

Giving this new remastered album a spin that was a Father’s Day gift Don’t you just hate it when a brand new / sealed album has finger prints on the vinyl surface As I type this post I am enjoying playing this classic album from a well regarded prog band Dog is laying next to me keeping each other company and also enjoying the music Artist - Gentle Giant Title - Octopus 3 points

Ohio State's Urban Meyer on one of his players: "He doesn't know the meaning of the word fear. In fact, I just saw his grades and he doesn't know the meaning of a lot of words." Why do Tennessee fans wear orange? So they can dress that way for the game on Saturday, go hunting on Sunday, and pick up trash on Monday. What do you say to a University of Miami Hurricane football player dressed in a three-piece suit? " "Will the defendant please rise." If three Florida State football players are in the same car, who is driving? The police officer.3 points

The last few days, I've literally been at the top of the world. My friends and I took off on a road trip to Ouray, Colorado. They have a Jeep, and we've been going over the highest, most-treacherous mountain passes. I got out and walked up front to get a picture of our ascent. See that rocky ridge behind us?2 points

Yes, it's golf, but damnit it was good to see someone who has been through so much make a comeback like this. Very emotional day. Good on him.....2 points

Couldn’t get a real size required but I ordered large. 6’ 170 lbs. I figured that thick shirt, jeans, SHOES, thin gloves and some space ‘round da face provided by pith helmet might help.2 points

A little Sunday afternoon boogie going on here lil' Stevie's big brother, new from 1986 in the slightly yellowed plastic for $8, could not pass it up! Hate to think of going back to the dry cleaner Monday, that used record shop is a couple doors down and for some reason I always park right between the two.2 points

Oh, it was! There were a number of times when I just closed my eyes and leaned to the side opposite of the abyss (like leaning would actually make a difference, lol). It's definitely a white-knuckle ride. Some spots are quite narrow, and the wheels are about 1 1/2 feet from the edge. What makes it even more challenging is when Jeeps are coming from the opposite direction. There are frequent spots which are wide enough to allow them to squeeze by as you come within inches of touching rearview mirrors. Sometimes, you have to back up to get to these spots. Some Jeeps have axles that are independent, and they can climb the wall and sit sideways as you pass. The temperatures have been great. Between short-sleeve and long-sleeve weather. The temp. changes have not been all that extreme.2 points

The 3's would work fine but if I were moving them from venue to venue I would either buy an older set of KP 201, 250 or 262's. If you want new I would special order some KI-272 or 262 and have the factory add corner covers and pole cups, handles. Then get two subs and call it a day.2 points

reminds me of a time, when my two dollar hammer with a wood handle and an idle hot solder gun lay waiting for an upgrade, thus ensued the initial installation of my initials on the handle (MC) …. I've bought at least a dozen hammers over the course of 50 year's, but that was only one that someone took without askin' … and never returned... and it still crosses my mind in the smoldering steam of my mr coffee contraption2 points

I think you'd be better off looking for a used Klipsch Pro system. JMHO, of course. I have HIII's and Khorns. Couldn’t imagine lugging the Khorns from venue to venue. They're heavy and a little hard to handle due to their shape. The HIII's might not achieve the volume an 100 person bar requires. Best of luck! Welcome to our little corner of insanity. Cincy2 points

Excellent. As you stated, seems the only place that Class D and most other amps fall short is in the midrange (only slightly) to a SET. To me the additions of much fuller and controlled sound out weigh it in the long run.2 points

Only garage I was lucky to have was when I got the `94 9C1 from the junkyard in Mims. Spent a lot of time in there cleaning, grinding, drilling and painting. The garage door faced due west just south of Cape Canaveral. Talk about the effects of radiant heat on display for anyone to experience!2 points

Not a Texas fan. Used to be a big Tech fan, law school study partner was their head coach. One Uncle went to A&M, ho hum, bunch of cousins went to UT, Womens, UNT, UT Richardson, SMU, ACU, BU, SFA, TSU, and TCU. The two teams I have routed for last 10 or so years are TCU and Rice (cousins go there and we attend). Hate anything and everything OK, so . . . Go Tech Go Army2 points

I wish I lived closer. I'd be happy to help. I stared my next home project today. It's my garage. I can see this one taking many months especially at the rate I work and the free time I have. I'm gutting it to the studs then having spray insulation applied to the walls and underside of the roof. I'll most likely go back with osb as opposed to sheet rock. It'll then get ac, new cabinets and epoxy on the floor. It's way past due.2 points

They're all big numbers at his age. That's exactly what I was thinking when I read that. When your a kid you look forward to your birthday, when your old you don't really look forward to it, just happy to make it there. 61 Thanks it was good2 points

The khorns would be too fragile and cumbersome to haul around. As mentioned, look for some used klipsch pro gear. It's all made with plywood. HIIs and newer are all veneered mdf. They can last a lifetime in a living room... hauled around not so much. Where are you located? Bruce1 point
