  1. I replaced all the fuses in my fuse panel of my 2001 Lexus and all I can say is wow, my stereo never sounded so good! Bass was tight yet perfectly balanced, highs were shimmering, but not strident or harsh. I listened to Diana Krall and it was as if she were in the passenger seat right next to me. I could smell her perfume which was very clean and rich, yet not overpowering with the perfect balance of fragrance and aroma with a slight hint of cinnamon overtones.

  4. Records. They take up space and they are usually stacked sideways, which means you have to turn your end at an odd angle to read the very small print to see what record it is and end up with a crink in your neck. Or, you can do what record stores and hippies learned to do a long time ago, and that's place them in a box so you can flip through them. Me I'm a flipper. As my collection grew I used old packing boxes, wooden crates and regular milk crates. All those storage vehicles had drawbacks. The boxes would rip, the wooden crates would split, and the milk crates left the top inch of the record exposed and weren't stackable. So wallah, along comes The Container Store's Superior Crate, perfect for lps. Cheap, holds about a hundred, is high enough to protect the top of the records, and is stackable. Then, like many loved objects, one day, a couple of years ago, The Container Store stops selling them . Boo! My collection continues to grow, my space keeps shrinking, the mounds grow and there's no cheap alternatives. What's a poor Thebes to do you ask? Well mostly fume and ponder I reply. But then one day as a tipsy mound of funk and soul finally topples to the floor, I go on what I presume will be another fruitless internet search. But wallah! Deliverance is at hand. My faith in American entrepreneurship is renewed. Because there is a site called Milk Crates Direct (no I'm not making this up) and on the site is the Heavy Duty Super Crate, or S-Crates for short. And, get this, not only are they a bit larger than their demised Superior crate, they ship in a convenient 4 pack and come in over a dozen colors, thus allowing you to color code your record collection. As an added bonus they are made in America and can, in a pinch, also be used to store milk cartons! Better yet, 10 buckaroos a pop rising to about $15 a piece with shipping. Well faster than you can say , Paypal, they were on their way to the humble Thebes abode where they will be employed in the Great Re-Filing Undertaking of 2018-2019, due to begin almost any day now. So how do you trump Superior. Why Super, of course. Here's a link to the site: https://www.milkcratesdirect.com/super-crates/s-crate-1?gclid=CjwKCAiAuMTfBRAcEiwAV4SDkUmY-rYd3v8Z1TbBB4s6LHx0IzjJAOvxl2M9FVKDLAF0W4PJcWHrlBoCBXAQAvD_BwE That that's Super on the left, Superior on the right.

  5. Beeeutiful @Tarheel Whatcha going to test `em out with? I like the Kinks Superman for the bass, Marshall Tuckers entire Running Like the Wind (exceptional LP) with the flutes and vocals, some Kansas Leftoverture for the harmonies. Then that leads down the road to Depeche Mode, 808 State, Eric Clapton, ACDC Powerage, Billy Joel and everything else I know well. Enjoy them Chuck!!!

  8. They do weight less than the stock seats because the stock seats are powered @ 50lbs ea and these gt350r seats are from the track package 350 and are manual... but mainly I got them because they are factory seats that are very rare. Maybe around 150 gt350r's are made every year. I also have the factory rear seat delete... that removed around 45 lbs with brackets and seats.

This is a photo of (from left to right) Ian "SETI" Moore, KHMA Trusee; Matt Sommers, Senior Creative Director, Klipsch Group Inc. and KHMA Trustee; and Jim Hunter, KHMA Curator, all reviewing sample swatchs for final selection to go with the venner sample showing the wood that will be used on the Museum Edition Khorns and Museum Edition La Scalas. 13. I do believe that with shipping a four pack cost me just around $60. You could use the various colors for categories, like Black for Punk, Red for rock and roll, yellow for country, a waste paper basket for the Beatles, green for groovy....

  14. Just pulled out my Black KG-4s out of storage to build out a second system and have some various amplification options. Was always under the assumption these were 6ohm and rated 93/94 db sensitivity, but the type on the back near the speaker inserts says 91db and 4 ohms. Appear to be early models made in 1984. I have read elsewhere that the 6ohm/4ohm discrepancy was merely marketing stuff in the mid 80's. My question is, are these early model KG-4s less sensitive then the of majority KG-4s out there? Thanks in advance.

  15. Go ahead and try to find a better tube pre for that coin. Sent it off to Mark a couple years back to get the upgrades he was offering. Just got it back from Durham electronics with a clean bill of health, freshly serviced and cleaned. She sounds lovely and looks as good as you will find. I'm struggling letting this piece of gear go as my MC2105 loves it. System changes are forcing sale. Local pickup for now.

  16. Gottcha didn't I? Looking at an Audiogon add for Heresy's while perusing the Alerts postings I see this. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis999ae-audio-magic-ultimate-beeswax-shd-fuse-audio-magic-s-most-advanced-creation-yet-tweaks Now I have to admit this is creative and territory that probably has never been traversed in Audio Nirvana Land for the Special People who just know and can hear in far greater detail than us unwashed dirty eared plebes can. Put these in there at both ends of your Platinum Electron Puddle Resistant Speaker Conductors and before the first Ceramic Electron Field Resistant Horizontal Tension Suspension Tower and the last one just before your superlative Audio Generative Sound Inducer Device. While you are there perusing the rest of the sellers stellar offerings don't forget this on your way out. Ho Ho Ho MERRrrrREEEY Christmas! I am humbled with the recognition of how incredibly ignorant I have been and all the money I have wasted when right here in front of me are all the answers I have ever needed. https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis98fh1-synergistic-research-blue-uef-duplex-holiday-special-get-a-free-blue-fuse-tweaks

  23. I listened through my CF-4's. I don't know if you want feedback or a critique, but thanks for posting. I listened to each song. Their characteristic sound reminds of progressive rock from the 1970's (a good thing) and I'm not sure who they remind me of, but I'm thinking of YES, or the Guess Who, I can't remember exactly. I found the group very musical within the genre, and frankly I enjoyed the music even though it's not my cup of tea in 2018 like it was in 1978. That's not the group's fault, it's because my personal musical tastes have changed over the years. I thought the tunes were nicely done, sounded great and the recording had good production value. Very professional sounding. I bet they get a good following. I give them two thumbs up.

  24. The blue duplex is to match the Smurf-Scalas..... then, there is a green duplex to match the Grinch-Scalas.... then we have... Along that marketing (gimmick in my view), I thought once that someone (me??!!) should go get some cryogenically treated breakers. After all.... someone is using the fancy plug....the fancy power cables yet it's all going through a pedestrian circuit breaker... (never mind the wires in the wall, from the power company, buried under ground to the transformer or, hanging in the air to the transformer...) I've got to think there are some folks out there who will pay a pretty penny for a gold plated, cryo-treated 20/30 amp breaker for their dedicated system. I can see it now.... they'd drag their buddies to the garage to show them the breaker panel. Funny thing is.... if you think about it, you know I'm right.

  26. Yes. If you've got the Belles located mid-wall away from the corners, I'd cross over at 80 Hz, or perhaps even 100 Hz. Here's a natural response of an 1981 Belle without corrective equalization, located in the center position mid-wall between my left-right Jubs. You can EQ the midbass on the Belles down a bit based on what you see here: Chris

  30. Was just about to suggest The Three... I have the pre-Google integration Three so I am using a Chromecast Audio hooked up to it and running Roon. For a medium-sized bedroom, it looks great, sounds great, and is dead-simple integration into the rest of my system. It is not a "stereo" solution, but I don't do any critical listening in the bedroom. But it's great when doing laundry, housework, and other bedroom-related activities.

  31. Anyone see their Long Distance Voyager tour..... where they had the cheesy/schmaltzy satellite (Voyager) drop down and hang over their heads? I just scratched my head on that one. Fast forward a number of years (10'ish?) and see Pink Floyd Pulse tour.... and comparing that light show, planes crashing, disco ball blossoming, flames, bombs..... oh, and the Moody Blues had their little Voyager clone hanging from above.... Even bands in the 70's had better visuals than that stupid thing. (and this negativity coming from a big fan who's seen them in Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee....) I'd rather they forget the flames bombs & Voyagers.... and mate up with an orchestra every time. That strikes me as their lane.

  38. I have the 8000f/504c combo and I'm overly impressed. The soundstage is wide and seamless. I love how clear everything is at low levels and high. My room is about the same as yours with 12 ft ceilings in an open floorplan. I get great sound filling everything. What are you going to use to power them? I have a Sony 1080 that I'm going to replace soon. I think at 5ch output is about 70 Watts. 2ch is around 100w. It's plenty of power but I want to give them more Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
