  3. Evening Gang Enjoying an IPA and taking a break from stereo repair. One of the Farmers brought over an old two channel Amp that he said has not worked for years. An hour on the bench and three Beers later it's crankin. (Cold solder joint) This Farmer is an Olive rancher 50 miles north, just called him and told him come pick up your unit on the farm in the morning and bring the wife some Olives, lets see where this goes. Farmers make it too dam easy to go out and help, their latest perk is go fill up the Diesel before ya leave, from one of their 1KGal tanks, so from now on i will not be complaining of fuel prices, they buy in bulk i guess and get a hell of a deal Have a good evening gang, off to surf for project parts

  4. Relatively very tolerable here for last couple or 3 then in the mornings. Like the nice relative low humid as well. Certain crispness in the air. Critters should be getting some relief as well. Cat noticed doe outside kitchen window. Been around a couple of years or 3. She has a bed out back where she lives at times. Never cared for biting insects much but, figure they must play a role. Doing some domestics lately and reading with interest your posts and pics are fun. Thanks, And Tarheel read you are planning. make the scene over to Rodneys' Place. Hope others here too. Alright then...

  12. Morning gang, getting ready to head down to the lake for one last time, last night for camping. 2" lift kit done, radiator done, right front wheel bearing done, left front ujoint done. Lift kit did exactly what I wanted it to do, level the Jeep out. It came with an add a leaf for the rear, but I decided against installing since the jeep wouldn't sit level. I need to have the ball joints done, but I will take it to a shop for that its just one job I don't feel like doing on the garage floor. Be careful, have a good time. Bye Bye have a wonderful time everybody.

  13. To my little family! I am proud to present Samantha Mae! Born 10/21/15 at 1:57pm 6lbs 11oz. We were about to head to the hospital, and while my wife was taking a shower to get ready, she yelled my name and said the baby was coming. A few pushes later this little bundle was born...... in our bathroom Fun story to tell when she's older.

  21. OneCall and Crutchfield still have new RB-61 IIs in Cherry for $350. More than you want to spend but this is way less in price compared to when they were the current line. Comes with manufacturer's warranty, OneCall says 5 years parts and 5 years labor. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_714RB61IIC/Klipsch-Reference-RB-61-II-Cherry.html?tp=186 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RB-61-II-Cherry-Pr-2-Way-Bookshelf-Speakers-/171975469262?hash=item280a8968ce:g:y7EAAOSwdvpWDr3c

And I had a panic attack when I saw someone messed up on a whiteboard outside of the room, so I had to quickly fix it:

  25. No. Based on our primitive technology, interstellar travel is impossible. The closest star to us (besides the sun) is Alpha Centauri at 4.3 light years away. For example, if we were to use the Space Shuttle... it would take 165,000 years to get there. Plus it's catch 22. With our limited fossil fuel rocket technology, you would need a tremendous amount of fuel to get there. That required amount of fuel has immense weight. In order to lift the weight of the fuel load, you need even more fuel during launch in order to escape Earths gravity. There's not enough fossil fuel on the entire planet to achieve either feat. We are a long ways from leaving out solar system. Kinda sad.

  31. Back at it with the cornscalas. We are calling this Project Hulk... I believe its the 1st time the Eliptrac 240 horn is being used. What we have here is the Crites Cornscala bin (additional bracing and some adjustments to the volume), paired with Kappa 15C. Baffles were done for use by Dave… CNC cutting at it finest. The Bass bins ride on a Base-plate with the caster bolted down. The Base-plate will be bolted to the bottom of the base bin. Will allow for easy movement. Top Hats are Eliptrac 240 2” horn with BMS 4592ND-MID crossed at 300hz with an ALK ES300. The HF is handled by the Dave’s Contrac horn and the B&C DE120 crossed at 4500hz with an ES4500. The owner wanted the inside of the mouths to be highlighted… they will have grills so only be present when off. [/url]

  35. Not sure. It has a little over 400 in it now. I would guess maybe 600 or less. Have you added them to blu ray.com? Blu-ray I like it when Im looking for a movie to watch. Would probably take you a few days to enter in 1400 lol. Actually I have my collection uploaded in DVD Profiler. I paid $25 for the program around the dawn of DVD and still use it to this day! Yeah the rack was a challenge, I picked it up for $100 on Craigslist, but shelving for those things is high, adds up when you need a dozen shelves. Shame the iNuke can't just mount in it, the was it mounts makes it stick out too far and I can't close the glass door.

  41. I would pass on it as it's been modded and things taken off of it. There are others on there that are better fits. My concern is that I wouldn't know if the person modding it was doing it correctly. I am by no means highly educated, and would ask a few on here who build to see what they have and can sell you. There is definitely a difference in tubes than SS.

  42. The best screen I've ever seen is the one we bought: Seymour electric retractable Acoustically Transparent screen. Ours is 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which goes along with the what filmmakers expect; when they select 2.35:1 (or near to that ratio), they expect the screen to be physically wider than the 1.85:1 shape, i.e., of greater area than 1.85:1, not a smaller ribbon shaped strip across a 1.85:1 shape. This is called "common height" and is the way most commercial theaters are set up. It is the film artist's larger canvas. BTW, the larger area increases cortical arousal (according to Berlyne), which is part of the point of creating a panoramic image. I have counted 10 aspect ratios, and they all look their best on a 2.35:1 screen, IMO. Ours is 130" true width (not the cheating diagonal the industry tends to use), and we cannot see the texture of the screen -- ever! By using an acoustically transparent screen, the center speaker can be put behind the screen, which makes for more convincing dialog positioning. A Klipsch engineer tested a Seymour AT screen for a forum member (I think the forum member's name was Hendricks), and found it to be nearly acoustically transparent even in the very high frequencies (I think it was a dB or two down at the very top). We use Audyssey with ours, and the center channel is just as flat as the R & L Find Seymour online, and talk to them. I think you will find them one of the most cooperative companies ever. They answered all of our questions thoughtfully in several letters. The Seymour AT screens are tensioned, at least ours is. I think Seymour sells to online customers only, so you may not get an unbiased opinion at a store. Good Luck!

  43. Yes, I'm also refinishing these in a Birch for practice to do my forte II in Rosewood, and want to do the speaker covers over as the 1 cover is stained with some type of grease. I re-did the covers on the forte already, and am either going to use the same material, or a chocolate or light beige type color on them. I called Klipsch directly, but they didn't have any info on how to remove it (or it was too much of a bother to look it up). These are the forte II covers redone, and although I do like the black, I want to try something different. If I got what you are saying, it should pop out from under the lip on the front. I will try that out.

  44. UH-They are not posting a video of speakers for you to listen to--so you can judge the fidelity of said speaker. The video will only sound as good as the recording and the speakers you are listening through.

  45. If you are the praying kind, pray for Mexico and Puerta Vallarta in particular. Typhoon Patricia is the most powerful storm in recorded history. It isn't so much a hurricane as a massive F3 tornado. And, given conditions, it will just travel across and bring a LOT of rain to the rest of us. Dave

  46. i put some arrows and descriptions. looking at this now, i still think it's a Rats Nest....i'm hoping my new efforts will look much better. the biggest help will be, No 7.1, No ethernet cables (Uverse changed it's box), No Wii component, switched to HDMI, No sub outlet switch box (X10 device), NO HD-A3 player. deleting those items alone will cut those cables in half! changing the Wii will only change the White to black and help it blend in.

  47. Who's to say that we have not been contacted already? Not to go all MIB here, but aliens could be here walking amongst us and we'd never know it. I wonder sometimes about how technology aided our ancient ancestors. Where did the Mayans go? Were ancient rulers 100% human? We Humans might be hybrids from several galactic species. If so, then I'd be terrified of an alien visit in much the same way that I fear an un-announced visit from my mother-in-law now.

  48. Klipsch Heritage speakers get modified, not because they need it, but because their design, in the case of the Klipschorn, Belle and La Scala in particular, makes the parts visible and invites tweaking. They're not mysterious boxes or monkey coffins, they're interesting machines, like classic cars with open-sided hoods that reveal the engines. With most speakers, what you bought is what you got, but with Heritage speakers, there are even factory update kits, so you can upgrade your older speakers to the latest specifications. One of my Heresy IIs is now a Heresy III, for a low price. All speakers are built with costs in mind, except of course for money's-no-object ones that few people can afford. What makes Heritage speakers sound so good is the synergy of the parts, rather than having extremely expensive parts that would not add up to better sound anyway. Accordingly, they can be upgraded/hot-rodded economically, in ways that would not be practical for retail sales. This has led to a community that has collectively acquired a pool of knowledge that is seen with few, if any, other speaker brands. The factory cooperation in this benefits both the customers and the company, which is how we have speakers like the JubScala, which started with a suggestion from a customer, which was then followed up by the top Klipsch engineer. Are your open baffle speakers perfect? Is there no way they could be improved? Have you considered making the baffles a different size or shape, for just one example? When you look at them, it's easy to see that open baffle speakers are just as tweakable as Klipsch Heritage speakers. I hope this post answers your question. Your comments were not out of place on a thread asking about attitudes about speaker types, but you can see how some people might see them as something more than you intended.

  49. Did the same thing last year but in Aug,(not as colorful) try to go check out the waterfall close to the end of the Skyway it's easy to get to and pretty big. I can't remember the name but there is a sign it's on the Tellico side of the parkway. We spent one Saturday just parked on the Dragon watching cars and bikes pass buy, our daughter and husband rode there bikes a few times on the tail. I've ridden that area quite a bit, but I haven't scratched the surface of all the great scenery. I'm thinking about retiring around there. I wouldn't blame you at all, it's a great looking area. We have been there a lot but like you there is much more we haven't seen, my favorite time of the year is fall with the colors. Since you will be in the area Fontana dam is nice and a very curvy road to get there. https://www.tva.gov/Energy/Our-Power-System/Hydroelectric/Fontana-Reservoir I have not been to the Fontana Dam area….it looks very nice. It's not just the great roads and fantastic scenery that I like, it's the friendly people also. I can feel the stress leaving my body when I'm down there.
