  9. UPDATE: The response to this opportunity has been completely overwhelming. As of now, Wed. March 2, 10:00 a.m. Central time, there are less than 150 entries remaining (out of a total of 800). Yes, that right, in just one week over 80% of the entries have sold and we anticipate a sellout by this weekend, if not sooner. The response from the Forum has been especially strong. Tickets have been purchased by Members from Washington, Oregon and California, to New York, New Jersey, New England; and from Wisconsin, Michigan (UP) down to Corpus Christi, Texas and Central, FLA. If you have been planning on purchasing an entry(s) now is the time to do so, whether it be 1 or 5 etc. The link to purchase entries is in the first post of this thread. Thank you to all of you who have purchased already, and those who purchase the remaining tickets. Good luck to everyone who enters. Updates on the exact time on March 12th, and if we are able to broadcast by Zoom, will be forthcoming after this weekend, along with updates from Hope leading up to the drawing.

  10. I have a pair of Eminence Kappa 15Cs for sale. I bought these several months ago intending to install them in my LaScalas, but ended up going with a non Klipsch crossover, so cleaned up and kept my K-33s. I added the suggested additional gaskets to these (for excursion clearance), so saved you the trouble. These are in new/unused condition, except for a quick functional test with music. Send me a PM for a quote. Edit: The drivers are in their original boxes, packed in blow foam. I've packed both of those boxes into an 18x18x18 with bubble wrap. Asking $180 plus shipping.

  11. Just got the Marantz 30 and SACD 30n, have them hooked up to my Cornwalls series 4 using AudioQuest Rocket 33 Bi-wiring / Irish red sub cables hooked up to dual R-112 subs and Golden Gate interconnect. (Subs run off the L/R pre-outs and have them low passed at 40hz) After one day of listening l can say this system sings! Clean / amazing detail and effortless presentation, very impressed with detail retrieval, hearing new sounds that were buried before. Dark very quiet background, music just appears from total silence. More to come as I get more time with this setup…. I’m listening to Dave Matthews Some Devil CD…. And its amazing.

  12. Nice! Thanks for the info. I'll be doing REW traces soon, I hope and begin dialing in the system. But it sounds unbelievably good just like it is. Hard to believe it can be even better.

  14. Well its been about a month and half and I am still very please with this amp. Clean, clear, for the price of the kit, I'd be surprised to find a better deal on an amplifier. Sorry, but I couldn't provide much more. Im a fan of Crown, McIntosh, and Parasound and this amp runs with them all.

  15. Since the beginning of the Chinese Flu there has been a huge increase in Neodymium and most of this in the last 8 months. The prices increases I got on my list from B&C today are frightening and I have to call tomorrow to see if they are real and if I am looking at retail or the new wholesale pricing. The more Neodymium there is in the magnet the more the cost and this is going to effect every user of these magnets. We are going to pay a large price for moving our mining and manufacturing off shore for some time and these price increases are not going away any time soon from oil to steel to rare earths and everything in between.

  17. I use actual curves to create the models. Nice thing about that is that it allows me to invert transfer functions mathematically, instead of by trial-and-error. (I have some cool toys, too!)

  18. That is the t-shirt that was given to attendees of Roy's Speaker Deep Dive Class in October 2019. This is on the front. The only way to get one is to convince an attendee to give or sell you his or her shirt. 🙂

THEN the Crimean garbage started so I started thinking I'd better jump while I could. So made the call. KT88's are 4-6 weeks out and I'm praying they show up. IF not I know where I can get a quad. @A1UC? I mean it's only HALF of what you run. 😂 Lawdy man! 😂 😂 😂

  23. I have my truck all serviced up and my gps mapped out to Hope Ak. Even if I don’t win, I know the money is going to something I hold deep in my heart and soul. PWK started me on this crazy dreamboat of audio heaven. I wonder how I’d be if I never bumped into that tall slender man back in the mid 70’s .

  26. Got the Type A's today, got them in and so far so good. I tried on vs. the old AA first, and really couldn't hear all that much difference, certainly not negative difference. A little sharper up top then the original's, but nothing causing me to run for cover. Maybe it's that they're A's, instead of AA's. Maybe it's just using old tube gear. Maybe it's that my soon to be, shellshocked over time 65 year old ears can deal with it. Who knows? Who cares? But at least I know that they're mildly updated and I'm happy about that.

  29. Not in a pissing contest kind of way but how far down the rabbit hole has your audio addiction brought you? Do you have extra amps and speakers that you rotate into play at times or do you have multiple systems in one rack? Personally I have KLF 20s in the living room with a Marantz PM7000n; a bedroom/office system with RP160m and Marantz nr 1200; and a downstairs den system with RF3s and a Marantz 1607. I didn't mean to end up with all Marantz and Klipsch. It was an accident...lol. I would like to branch out a bit for the sake of trying different gear. I think I could part with the RF3/RC3 set up and maybe move the 160s down there and add a RP450 center. MAybe try a different brand in the office like KEF, Wharfdale or something. I did have Energy C2s in the office but the new RP160m has beaten them out. I'm keeping the KLFs long term. Also the Marantz PM7000m was a decent upgrade from the Onkyo 9150 powering the KLF 20s. So anyway do you all have alternate pieces you rotate in from time to time?

  30. 6.35 sq ft volume may not be possible with the current motorboard , but you can try to increase the internal volume of the cabinet , and calculate the results with these modifications . , 1)- you'll need to extend an open slotted space under the motorboard using a 3 /4 inch plywood panel , the slot would look like a Vented Cornwall cabinet with another 3 inches of free space under the slot , that should add about 4 inches to the height of the cabinet even if the motorboard is shorter . 2)- you can increase the depth of the cabinet , if this is still insufficient , you would need to cut new motorboards + add a tweeter

  31. Thinking you need to let your new crossovers a little more time, about a week or less or more to form. There is a debate however, between those that believe in capacitor burnin and those that do not. From my experience, something came together for me after a few days, hours in. jmlo...thanks.

  33. This was @Chief bonehead Roy's idea. He wanted EVERYONE to have a reasonable chance to own AK6 speakers, and as it turned out, the Museum was donated a pair by Klipsch Group, Inc., that were historic, rare, and unique.

  34. So yesterday my neighbor helped me lift the 50 lb. beast of a projector onto its ceiling mount. I got it hooked up and adjusted image location on the screen. Then I decided to check various Blurays with different aspect ratios to see how they appeared on the screen and made some minor tweaks. Then I discovered that I had no center channel audio and found that I hadn't connected the XLR cable from the XMC-2 to the amp. Whoa, did that make a difference? My friends have asked me what would be the first movie I'd watch when the theater was done. Well, it wasn't a movie. The last aspect ratio I checked was 16x9 and happened to be with the Bluray of the Eagles Farewell Tour Live from Melbourne. And I thought it might be good to sample the audio since I had just added the center channel to the mix. Well, I sampled nearly the entire concert. The projector throws a spectacular image, but the audio was unbelievable. With DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, I've never heard a more realistic concert audio track or one that is as percussion-forward as this. The 40+ year old Klipsch Heritage speakers performed beautifully and the capability of the Tuba HT DIY subwoofers was more than confirmed. Tight, punchy bass was fabulous. And all I've done in audio setup was to set speaker distances. I haven't gotten the dB meter out yet to set levels and haven't even thought about setting up Dirac. Or experienced a movie with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. And none of the room treatments have been added. So this is going to be a really fun journey! I still have lots of finishing to do in the theater and I'll look forward to very high quality work tunes along the way. Still haven't decided on a first movie yet.....

  38. And the price is supposed to be cheaper than the ACA being that it does not require a case. I believe the ACA is $299 so less then that. My comments are not the actual kit build. I just ordered the board and sourced the parts myself. Also I have a special case with a linear PS section I use to test amplifiers with. The neat thing is most all of the NP Firstwatt offerings use the same voltage rails enabling swapping out just the amplifier boards.

  42. I always say that right before I drag in more stuff....Good luck, lol.. Home theater stuff listed. For 2ch in most every room, Pioneer sx980, Sherwood s7910, Kenwood KR 7050, Pioneer sx780, Project 1 mkIII. Assorted JBL Large/small speakers, Pioneer hpm, Kenwood 999, old Sansui of some type, Various Cerwin AT, Technics TT, PIoneer TT, various Carver, Parasound, Rotel, amps. Thats pretty much the stuff my wife can see, I have a barn too. Just to note, really not a contest, just a great hobby where you can't really lose anything if done right. I have less money in the bank than many people so it evens out. So, eleven in actual use. I do use a switch on a few to change amp/speaker.
