I'm about to make an unpopular, blasphemous and heretical statement here, but my stock H700s are the worst speakers I've ever owned, apart from the ones that came with the Lloyd BPC "stereo" my parents bought me for my 11th birthday, back in 1981. I'd always heard Klipsch mentioned in reverent tones, so I was really excited to hook them up, but the sound was awful. They sounded muffled, boxy, shouty and sibilant. They didn't last long in my setup and spent most of the 16 years I owned them, kicking around in my garage, which led to the woofer cone getting torn. I came here a few years ago looking for guidance to restore them, hoping that I could fix them. I recapped them with correct value capacitors and learned the the K-22-R woofers were likely 8Ω replacements, so I even changed the crossover to Type-E, replaced the woofer with the torn cone and installed new mid diver gaskets, along with sprucing up the cabinets to better than new condition. Hooking them back up after restoration, they sounded somewhat improved, a little less sibilant, but still shouty and dull, with no bass to speak of. If you listen mainly to mid century music, "oldies," classical and jazz, that might not matter- lots of guys here do that and think the old speakers are the cat's pajamas. However, if you listen to music made in the past 30 years, you may be disappointed and you'll definitely want a subwoofer or two with them. I did do some things with them that we are no longer allowed to discuss here, that really showed their potential and made them really quite super; that actually started me on my true hi-fi journey. Ultimately, however, I felt the better course was to restore them back to OEM, move them on and build something with the mod parts. I got a good price for them, built the DIY speakers and had money left over to buy more gear. Your mileage may vary, but if you're over the age 60, you'll probably like them; if you're under 50 years old, there's a good chance you won't. Good luck. -

I started having this problem today. the LED on my speaker doesn't light up and everything on the subwoofer PCB looks good. So I guess I replace the capacitor mentioned above? I just ordered some. -

So I have recently acquired two boxes with the above said speakers and parts, I’ve seen online that the tweeters sell for $-399 on eBay for the set? My question is do they hold any real resale value? -
