  1. First stab at posting pics here. The folks in this forum really helped me out with advice purchasing and configuring my new system, so I wanted to post some pics. I spent about 2 hours today listening to some hi res music and the system sounds fantastic! It's a huge step up from the Sonos Playbar. Thanks again to those who shared their knowledge. I'm still working on my photography skills :-)

  3. I have been given permission to share with our forum members that Jill Escol, Global Communications Director for Klipsch Group, Inc will be resigning effective June 3, 2016. Many of you met Jill during our recent Pilgrimage to Hope, AR. I would to personally thank her for her 14 years of faithful and dedicated service to Klipsch. She has accepted an offer with another Indianapolis based company and will remain in Indy. She hopes to maintain the relationships she has formed with those she has worked with and met while employed by Klipsch. She did mention that after her Pilgrimage to Hope, AR she purchased a brand new pair of Khorns! Please join me in congratulating Jill on her new position, as well has her recent purchase. Thank you again Jill and best wishes on your new journey!

  6. There are some very good reasons why it will sound better in your new room: 1) La Scalas, like Khorns, need to be several feet from your listening position in order to "coalesce" into a more-or-less single image (due mostly to time misalignment of tweeter-midrange). If you move the tweeters to the top of their cabinets and move to the back of to align with the midrange driver, you will hear much more improvement in the imaging. 2) Higher ceiling is a big, big deal. The Heritage series of midrange horns all have collapsing polars and will improve their in-room performance when there is sufficient carpet absorption on the floor and the first reflections from the ceiling bounce are further than the typical eight-feet ceilings. 3) Getting the La Scalas spread wider increases the sense of envelopment (LEV) and Apparent Source Width (ASW) fairly dramatically, which are the two biggies in terms of realism of reproduction. Some of the above is discussed in Toole's excellent book. Chris

  7. That's great to hear. Sometimes even the room dimensions (with or without changing volume) can effect the sound.

  8. Diz, I have seen a lot of nice gestures on the forum, that has got to be in the top 5. Just one Klipsch fan helping another, no baggage attached. Arash has a pair of LS in Iran he inherited from his grandfather and is trying to figure out a way to buy 402 horns and get them sent there. I look forward to the day when we get word that Arash has RSVP'd he will be attending a Pilgrimage in Hope. Diz, you confirmed what I always suspected about you: You Sir are a Gentleman.

  13. Spotify Premium here. Tried them all. A little digital EQ and sounds just as good as Tidal or even cd's for that matter. It's been a little scary in how reliable Spotify has been for me. All the services I've tried had some sort of glitch....especially Tidal. It would always lock up and was slow to buffer. That was then.....maybe it's better now....don't really care though....Spotify works for me. I listen to it probably 90% of the time if not more. Sent from my SM-G920R4 using Tapatalk

  14. Hello, I have just gotten my newly restored Marantz 2252b receiver back and now i am looking for the perfect speakers. I know that this forum may be a "little" biased but Is the Klipsch Heresy III a good, great or perfect fit for my 2252? Thank you in advance for your advice!

  15. So...it was bound to happen. (Sorry for the not so great pic...I'm too lazy to get my camera gear out.) The Heresies were brought down to the family room for a show down against the RF-7II. Fearing that I will put a lot of you to sleep with a long description, I'll get right to the point. The RF-7II won. I had seen that the 7s were voiced closer to the heritage series. After going back and forth, it seems this may be true. At first, it seemed the Heresies were warmer, but it turns out the 7s just have a significant amount more detail. Having said that, I do turn the treble down -2 on the 7s. Their location and interaction with my room require this for my tastes. (Stay tuned on whether this is true with the Outlaw separates that are on their way.) Both speakers are great, but the 7s are more modern. The sound is smoother, more open, detailed, and bigger. The Heresies do have an endearing quality though. They feel softer and are purely relaxing. Neither speaker is going anywhere, but an A/B was required.

  20. If you're lazy, you could have folks like Simply Speakers re-cone them. They're in Florida. Another reputable re-coner would be Midwest Speaker Repair in Minneapolis. Depending on where you're at, you may have a local place that will do it for you. There are several in Denver for example, although none quite as reputable as Simply Speakers and Midwest, both of who I've dealt with in the past. They're solid. Get some of those 15" perfed metal speaker covers while you're at it, those shops sell those too.

  22. I wonder if it's nothing more than the distance you are now sitting? With my Khorns, I noticed they distinctly sounded better at a certain location in my room (30' away) They still sounded "good" while in the room, but there was a noticable difference. Later, when the 2-way Jubilee's replaced the 3-way Khorns, I realized the Jubilee's didn't have this same increase in quality of sound. Bottom line, what was going on is the Jubilee's with only 1 crossover point were more coherent than the Khorns which had 2 crossover points. It simply took more time, therefore distance, for the Khorns to meld into what appeared to be "one voice" whereas, the Jubilee's had it from the beginning. The Jubilee's "come together" somewhere around 10' away. I wonder (suggest?) that if you were to go active and align the LaScalas, you might notice something similar. Though it's pretty significant to hear, it's hard for a moron like me to type into words.

  23. Yep, them ain't a small room speaker. They need room to open up. My KHorns sound fantastic at 15 feet out in center but even more fantastic'er at 20-25 feet away. Allows the bass room to "bloom" if you will.

  40. I don't think 10 seconds is enough of a delay. Klipschfest debauchery OFTEN exceeds 10 seconds and the decency buffer would overflow and...well, there are children on the internet you know. H$LL, it takes 10 seconds to figure out exactly what IS going on and how many bodies are involved. Then you have to sex them and that gets messy with all the martinis. Just a thought or two.
