  1. I had some harbucks this morning, we rushed out of here at 7:30 to take her to her salon south of here. Made some swill called pikes place in a machine you put these little cupcake sized pods into WTF? I've always brewed it. & I know why, I went outside and pitched it in the grass. They had "worked her in"... went and got the gas at the warehouse down there then waited until 8:45 and left her there reading another domesticated magazine!! Went home to get my immuno that I have to take at 9am and got my cup off of where I left it, threw it in the wave and had good stuff for the drive back to pick her up. @WillyBob Liked `em better this way:

  2. that's how we dealt with corked wine. We dinna carry a corkscrew. Ya know that a fifth of wine will fit in the front pocket of bib overalls ... and you can still ride a bicycle. I was a little younger... 40 years younger. Kittens are going today.... if we can get a hold of the gal that expressed interest. They're eating softened dry food and drinking water. Still like some formula... but, they are ready. We are momma bird to them. They will eat whatever we show them to eat. We got a little rain last night. Been raining crazy 15 mile east. Just running out of gas before it reaches us. We get a smell and wind. The nature of "the monsoon". Was the same way when I lived in Amado. Years when it seemed to rain all around. Not there. the Cadillac "sculpture" is east Amarillo Didn't know they moved it A little c/p Opened: 1974 Medium: Car Did you know: Cadillac Ranch was moved in 1997 from its original site along Interstate 40 to a new spot two miles west along the interstate. Drinking straight generic Mexican coffee.

  3. Today I got all the wood I needed for my next project. A custom made audio equipment rack. This one will go in the JBL theater room. It will not be like the last 2 racks I made that are sandwiched between Klipsch Chorus II's. I am planning for something a bit more toward the high end furniture look with this build. 60" height 25" width 20"depth with casters. 7 shelves plus the top.

  4. i think there are more Texans on this forum than representing anywhere else. I’ve driven through Texas; but, didn’t spend the night or even eat there ... probably stopped for gas. I did see a bunch of Cadillacs noses into the ground ... wherever that is. Yes @DizRotus, i know where the ground is, i just don’t know where the ground where the caddies are buried is. Excuse my writing ... I’ve been practicing for when you & I go to Tip A Few. If Carl keeps buying that Unicorn Bourbon, i may have to take a road trip one of these days!

  6. I'm not sober but not quite drunk, either. I had a little mp3 player for work, and a thumb drive off the bike. I planned to update / synchronize them. I can't find the SOBs anywhere I could possibly have set them in the last couple of hours. One is blue with a little screen and some buttons. A little smaller than a Zippo. The other is the size of a small combination USB thumb drive. I had them both together a while ago. Has anybody seen them or have any ideas where I could look?

  9. Couldn't remember if I had posted this pic in a different thread or not but this was my main system for watching TV and movies at my home I sold last November. Unfortunately, with work, moving and projects at the new house, I haven't had time to setup the system in the new house. Hopefully soon though... Here's the "old" setup. New setup is going to have some gear changes/updates but the CF3 v1's will definitely remain part of the system.

  10. Speaking for myself only, I'm with you 100%. It's tough because back in the day there was this tall thin wild man, eccentric, a maverick genius. Wore two wrist watches on his arm, a left-handed wing nut who set out and patented a major advance in corner horn technology. His name was Gadfly O. Hertz and he warned us that it might be difficult to tell the snake oil salesman from the real McCoy, and he didn't abide bullshit!

  12. My RF-5's have the RF-7 / RC-7 horn driver (they're the same) and the top end of the RC-7 crossover and they sound great, little softer more midrangy / bigger sound than the stock drivers well worth the switch IMO.

  15. No problem I paid 900.00 found them on ebay they were 1300.00 buy it now or make offer I offered 900 they were 15 mins from my house so it was an easy decision. They look all orig to me and sounded decent although the seller demoed with a pretty beat up Kenwood reciever. I opened them up and they have the Original woofers. I plan on cleaning them up new veneer on the edges and new grill fabric seller had a cat and the sides are wasted. They look like no one ever cared for them full of spider webs and dust they need some Love Might put a light stain on them and some new crossovers. Thank you for the warm welcomes.😃

  16. Earlier in this thread I said that there is only a thin line between comedy and tragedy. A difference between comedy and tragedy is: In comedy the character knows that he is being funny, while in tragedy he does not.

  28. how bout for me ... i want to raid your bourbon locker. Took a nice gulp of the Weller last night. Initially, it has a very good taste, then a peppery sting. Tonight, was a couple of Molson Canadians and a shot of the La Fortaleza tequila. I’m SO a Tequila guy, just love that stuff. Although it has a very long cork and i guess i wasn’t being too careful and twisted the top off and broke the cork -- just pushed the stuck part into the bottle and took my shot.

  31. All of us old time folks love our Klipsch... whatever ... but here’s a chance for Klipsch to fix a problem and convert someone who has had a poor experience. OP, sorry to hear of your problems. My wife’s Klipsch X10 just died after 10 years of daily heavy use, so my experience is good. They are the only headphones IEM that my wife liked due to very small ears, they were comfortable and excellent sound. I’m looking for more! Best wishes to get your problem resolved.

  32. ....and ordered Jubilee bass bins to sit my 402's on.... Now the four month wait begins.... All the research and looking at plans for DIY and in the end, I just couldn't shake the thought that other designs would have been a compromise. So, Jubilees it is. I have the Xilica working, will try and get ahold of the PEQ settings for the combo I have. Selling my Prima Luna amp. The big Crowns are just rockin out, and so clear. My brother is taking the Altec 19's. Relieved that I will still be able to visit them. Anyway, I feel pretty Zen about it all, despite the outlay.. and just maybe I will do a DIY sub if required, to scratch THAT itch.

  34. Higher power handling capability. Good for large rooms and/or live level listening. However, many find the experience disappointing. Bob and me love replacing them. I just did two in the last month.

  35. When the man who designed the speakers says to place them on the floor in the corner for best performance, you should. The ceiling is simply the floor, upside down. So, inverted in the corners would be the correct answer, IMO.
    1 point
  36. IMO, inverting them, in addition to bass reinforecement described above, allows the tweeters to better distribute the highs down into the space.

  37. From what I have come to understand from these forums, 4 ohm woofers can produce 3db more bass from a given wattage over an 8 ohm woofer in the same application. Ohm’s law and all that... The crossover for a 4 ohm woofer is also designed for that impedance. Changing impedance of drivers in a given crossover dramatically changes the crossover frequency. This affects other factors engineered into the design. I’m thinking polar responses for starters, 2nd and 3rd order harmonics,... but haven’t fully come to understand those, yet...
    1 point
  38. Agreed. Though there is perhaps one more thing to try for cheap. A 60 Hz tone should get cleanly through the crossover to the woofer and is both easy to find and easy to measure the voltage of. In order to check the low-pass section without a test bench, I'd be inclined to "play" (only) some hum to the speaker and compare the AC voltage levels between the crossover input and woofer output. Should be very nearly the same both places. If there's substantial difference then I'd get the test bench involved. Also, prior to disassembling the speaker further I'd get a calibrated mike (gonna need it anyway) and run some sweeps just to see if I was really hearing what I thought I was. If I'd been listening to, say, old Cerwin Vegas and switched to something else, then thought the bass was lacking, well, it might not actually be...

  39. I'm not qualified to provide a recommendation in this matter. The last time I heard Heresys was prior to there being a "II" and my room is larger than 12x12 (though the ceiling is ~7'). I do, however, happily drive a pair of Forte III with a NAD C338, which combo I can heartily recommend. Since the current model Heresy and Forte footprints and sensitivities are comparable, I can't see one being very different from the other in terms of "overpowerment."

  44. nothing wrong with the speakerlab khorns...many proponents here on the forum...price could still be a good deal based on condition/internal components...
    1 point
  45. So the point of the above table is to show that the latter incarnation of the Khorn (the Jubilee) addresses the perceived deficiencies of the original Khorn. It should be noted that the "Khorn I" (in its various minor change incarnations accommodating driver changes over time due to supplier changes) has a very large installed base of devoted owners that haven't yet seen the need to upgrade their Khorns. Many new owners of the AK6 Khorn are very satisfied with their performance (certainly enough to buy them new--and keep them for life). The AK6 design is an incremental improvement of the original Khorn design with enclosed bass bin back that decouples the need to seal against a room corner at 45 degrees, having an improved tweeter, and incorporates overall adjustments to the passive crossover smoothness. 46. In one respect it was a plebeian undertaking. Certainly the masses were there. The biggest misconception about Woodstock is that everyone there was a hippie. It was some kind of hippie convention. The hippies gave it it's gestalt, but it mostly just young kids raised by the WW2 generation starting to find there way in the world .It was high schoolers and college types mostly, Iif a third of the crowd was , or went onto college, I'd be surprised. Except for the decided lack of people of color, it was an economically egalitarian event. Truest phrase was the times are a changin... and they were. For example, and please don't turn this into a political thread, it's a historical thread. I was an ardent pro Vietnam War proponent and fairly articulate about it. This event, and it was not pro-war by any stretch, gave me pause. I said to myself (is that a phrase from a song?) while looking around this massive assembly , maybe the other side has a point that I should be more open too, maybe I'm be too rigid in my own viewpoint. In one sense it was a step towards maturity. Ah, there are other points of view! It started me down a path where ultimately I became more critical and then finally adamantly against the war. I then began to look at other aspects of American life and arriving at other conclusions about our great, but flawed society. There was also this sense of friendliness. The two fingered peace sign was more than a political symbol, it was the tipping of a hat when passing somebody on the street of an earlier generation. It gave me this feeling, that I still hold to today, that people everywhere would rather give you a hug and a smile, then a shaken fist or a shiv in the ribs. I became a hippie of sorts. I wanted that sense of goodwill. To spread, the community. To grow. I held on as long as I could but the rest of my generation soon went onto became the Me Generation, got jobs, got kids, got responsibility and became their parents, only worse. Nothing new about that, pretty cool in most respects, but still sad in some ways. Especially when I see that kids no longer play outside, and neighbors are something you see through your car windows while heading down some dog-turd filled suburban landscape. The mud (not really that much of it), the lack of food etc. where minor travails, compared to the cosmic buzz that was Woodstock. People have been tearing it down since the day it began, and will forever more. Eventually their view will dominate and the music will fade. But hopefully somewhere out there that spark, that warmth, that magic will bide it's time, waiting, and hoping and wishing...
