Don't leave us hanging.....how did you fare? Did you defend the local slot car honor?4 points

Slot cars, those were the days. Like many, I started with the gateway drug of Aurora HO buzzers, before graduating to AMT 1/24 scale with functional steering. My fondest slot car memory is the evening there was a frantic knock on the door of our Spring Lake, MI home. My buddies had raced on their bikes the few blocks from the local slot car emporium, which was a large track that filled an old hardware store, to tell me that some guys from Muskegon had blown into town, with what they thought were fast cars. They urged me to grab my DIY Corvette with a Pittman motor in a DIY copper tubing chassis to show these out-of-towners what FAST really is. Oh . . . the pressure of being a slot-car-slinger.4 points

Well, it's been well over 2 years since I've shared in this thread what my home theater looks like. It has certainly changed a lot. If a picture is worth a thousand words...well, hope you enjoy the video.4 points

Most excellent. One of my older brothers was into slot cars big time when we lived in Daytona. There were a couple of really big multi track facilities there then. This would have been in the mid to late 60's. He was all about modding his cars and controllers and I frequently saw him hand winding motors for specific applications. He had quite the collection of bodies, motors, controllers and parts. My favorite car was an open air car that had a big Rat Fink at the steering wheel with one hand on the wheel and the other reaching way up to a tall stick shifter.3 points

Hole size is decreased in 2018 Lascala II. Not sure exactly what year they reduced the size. First of the Lascala IIs used the K-77F with standard size horn used by all earlier K-77M tweeters allowing the entire horn to extend through the motor board with z-brackets. Even after the change to the K-77D for some number of years the larger hole was maintained and earlier tweeters could be fitted to those holes using z-brackets. As of 2018 (and perhaps some years earlier), only the K-77D could fit in the holes and no way to use the earlier K-77F or K-77M tweeters. Attached is a picture of the K-77D installed in a 2018 Lascala II. Bob Crites K77D_in_2018_Lascala.pdf3 points

Well back online with the pc today a mild oc to 4Ghz /45 degrees C with the stock cooler. Helps that the heat in the daytime here is set at 65F. Found out the pump in the water cooler went out before I tried to update the motherboard bios..... a perfect storm of bullya to destroy a pc. Fighting with the newest version of win10 `cause it doesn't like me to use apps that have been doing their thing for years that msft wants to get in on that action now. Now I can relax after the frustration of getting this box set up again. It was only 30 at noon here when we were headed home (Oct. weather in the 1970s here) and what better to pick up for lunch when I'm tired of cookin' & cleanin' when you're from NC??? This is it I tell ya! Barbeque (here it's pulled pork w/vinegar & red peppers) sandwich, slightly overcooked hush puppies today, fried okra, ONLY Luzianne tea here and real good banana pudding! On our finest dishes that were in the can hours ago.2 points

To paraphrase him... Klipsch does not have an engineering staff... Klipsch is 100% sales and marketing... Klipsch products are all made in factories in China... He has lost all credibility with me. I mean, what type of "industry expert" spews total misinformation like that? Burns me up a little.2 points

Yes to this and the big bonus of placing your speaker anywhere and it works right and is not corner dependent. 90 degree angle and then extend from there perhaps? How long does it need to be anyway? I guess I am missing something here. I see this term used but I can't say I have ever noticed anything like this with speakers I have had. I don't have a set of Chorus I's to play with but I know sometimes blocking a port can lower hz. I had a pair of EV tl440's and if you wanted the lowest hz you had to block one of the two ports. Playing with a program called BoxNotes last night which was indicating on the KPT-456's if I blocked two of the four ports the lowest hz would drop more than you might think. I would take front ported over a passive any day and if this is right is just another reason in favor of front ports. You can tune these front ports with length and or covering one or more ports. With passives even though you can put weights on a passive and tune it that way you still have to use a corner.2 points

Very true, but two $3 port tube and 4 cents worth of electrical tape are closer to free than usual in this hobby. The key is, you will always wonder "what if" if you don't try. Heck, it's almost February, I could use a good $6.04 project.2 points

What he had, to say in the above example is BS, agreed. No engineering staff? Guess the Chinese are that good at guessing what speakers should look and sound like and spitting them out to the masses. The Heritage is clearly all show. That explains why klipsch has had and still has a cult like following. As far as PS Audio products? I bought a HIGHLY REGARDED set of monoblocks from the company, a current model, (m300 if I remember right?) and a Stellar DAC/PREAMP and I have to tell you, In my room with the legacy audio focus speakers I had, it was THE WORST combo I had ever used by far on the speakers. Everything sounded like an overly compressed MP3. I was shocked. I thought surely something must have been wrong with them, but no. I let them "break in" playing 24/7 for close to a month. No significant change. I won't buy anything from the company again. Oh, BTW, this was a $3k + combo, but Klipsch makes garbage I tell ya.1 point

Both of the units arrived yesterday along with the cables. Set one of them up in my living room with an older Yamaha receiver which is only used for TV and background music. Set up was flawless and Spotify premium automatically connected. I have no complaints so far.1 point
