    • I believe "tight, punchy bass" calls for a sealed subwoofer and not a ported model.   You could get an SVS sub as they offer both sealed and ported models, or a HSU Research sub and have the best of both worlds; they provide plugs for the ports to change as you desire.
    • @IndyKlipschFan @OilyBoy thank you guys 😊.. I'm happy to join this group.   Hey @OilyBoy, great to see you active again. And thanks for the congratulations. Maybe it’s a good idea to list your UJ in the garagesales section? That way it might get some more attention.   I think you’re part of a very small group that owns both the UJ and the HJ, and can compare them in the same room. You’ve already mentioned some differences above, but why not write a more detailed comparison between these two speakers? I think a lot of UJ owners are really curious about how the two compare. At least, I’m very curious. Is it just more/deeper bass and a wider hotspot that makes the HJ better?   Quick update,  I’ve placed the Jubilees much further apart. When I see how far apart they are now, I’d say it can’t possibly sound good. Partly because I’m not sitting far from the speakers. Measured in a straight line forward, 12 feet. But surprisingly, it works very well. It adds more air to the music, and there’s now space for everything to be properly placed. From center speaker to center speaker, I have 11.5 feet of space. The result… better placement, bigger soundstage, the music is more detached from the speaker, more air in the sound instead of a wall of sound, and a more realistic experience.
    • An amplifier of some kind to connect to the wall hookup.
    • Awesome!  Klipsch really does outperform many other speakers of the same size and price range.  I’ve had my setup with 5 Heresys, 2 AW-650s for Atmos and 2 horn loaded subs for a while now and it sounds amazing.
    • Thank you for your answer. All I know is the tag says KBOL and the year is W which is 1981.

    • Hello fellow Canuck…   is it worth recapping a vintage receiver… you’ll get different opinions. The real question is, do you know a competent audio tech who can do the job right? If yes, then the piece can be brought back to former glory. I had a Luxman R-117 completely recapped including 4 power caps, all solder lines verified, new binding posts installed and factory set … cost $750 CAD. That was about 3 years ago, but I had access to the best audio tech in my area.   Others can comment re Onkyo. Myself, I’m a Denon person although I have left that world behind in favour of pre processor and power amps.   I suggest you look on Canada Audio Mart, depending on your budget a good used Denon x3600 or similar if you want a home theater receiver. If you just want a stereo receiver there have been a few Luxman that show up… again you might have to pay for a recap.    Best of luck!
