    • I'm renovating my new house and I'd like to make a home theater system in the living room, I have to make a 5.1.4. I also have to take into account aesthetics (and my wife) and so I want to opt for in-wall speakers. Again for aesthetics, the central one will be the R-30C (it's low in height and looks better aesthetically and it won't make my TV end up too high).   The questions I'm asking you for advice on are, for the in-wall speakers: 1) can I combine different series between the in-wall speakers? 2) So one of these three solutions: Solution 1: 2x PRO-25-RW-LCR 2x PRO-16-RW   Solution 2: 2x PRO-25-RW-LCR 2x CS-16W   Solution 3: 2x DS-250W-LCR 2x CS-16W   Obviously from the most expensive to the cheapest. I was thinking of the middle way, the first option is too expensive.   What do you suggest? Thank you
    • Many thanks for that.   Are you able to comment on how the E compares with the E2 network in terms of sonic signature?
    • A Single Point source horn offers more  precise control of the sound waves, it ensures   correct timing  , eliminates comb filtering from the speaker source and better controls directivity , since the entire signal exits through a horn of the same exit dimension. All this adds  precision to the sound quality .
    • For home use, I’d convert to the type E or E2 used in the heresy I.  You’re probably going to find that woofer boomy in a ported box tho..   Could always cover the port and see which you prefer.   I’d suggest finding a replacement pair of k42 if you can or a pair of Eminence delta pro 12a if not (possibly the same driver).  Celestion tf1225 also works VERY well in that ported box….    Head over to AK and ask and read up..
    • There is quite a difference between Klipsch passive networks and their DSP solution.  Once you hear the difference you would not want passive.  True, the DSP adds complexity.  But that is easily managed and once setup is complete.
    • If you have no luck, you can get a recone kit from Simply Speakers for the KD 17.  I don't attempt a recone on a speaker with a voicecoil, but since the KD 17 is a passive radiator, it is fairly simple.  I have done a couple with good results.
    • Hi folks.   Just joined the forum to hopefully tap into what appears to be some fabulous knowledge on this site. Hopefully you're o.k with that.   I've just acquired some Klipschy Heresys over here in the UK and and having them refurbished because the cabinets and crossovers are in a pretty poor state. The drivers and horns appear to be in decent enough condition thankfully.   The design seems to be a mish-mash of a classic Heresy and the Heresy HIP design. The cabinets were evidently HIP cabinets which were in the rounded-edged black PA style and they have a slot port at the base:     Yes, as I said, not great condition!!   The crossovers have obviously been tweaked, but as you can see, to a very poor standard:     The drivers are all as follows:   - K-77-M tweeter - K-55-M Mid - K-24-K Woofer   I had originally suspected these would need the HIE crossover network (being a HIP model), but I suspect that the woofer has been replaced by a standard Heresy driver based on some research suggesting that the woofer in the HIPs was a K42, not a K24.   I would be most grateful if anyone could assist or recommend the best crossover network to use with these speakers, bearing in mind the drivers used and the presence of the port?   Many thanks in advance for any advice/help.
    • I thought that JEM was the place to go for Klipsch approved capacitors, and Dean for approved repairs.    https://jemperformanceaudio.com/speaker-modifications   The original caps on my in spring new to me 1973 Klipschorn were dry as dust and measured perfect capacitance values. Despite this, the speakers sound very quiet and quite cloudy. I bought new JEM caps and it's a night and day difference, not subtle but dramatically much better, louder, clearer, silkier and more contoured. The good outward appearance can be deceiving.
    • Is that for the Heritage Jubilees or everything? I woud not have a clue on the other stuff.   Indy Audio Labs, specifically Aragon was once owned by Klipsch.
