    • Post holiday bump- there was a time not too long ago a "good" price for these new was $3500 I believe full retail is over $6k. Looks like PHT's current price for these is $2600 a pair:   https://paducahhometheater.com/products/klipsch-ki-396-sma-ii
    • I would try and find an Academy first if you can find one reasonably priced next would be a kg2.5 or 2.2- this of course is if you're stuck on a smaller sized center otherwise a matching 5.5 / 5.2 would be ideal as recommended above.
    • What burn resistor and 3 surroundings did you replace? Please show me in the picture.
    • I am running a pair of Klipsch RP-6000F II and I am happy with the results.   In the next couple of months, I want to upgrade my set gradually to get a full-fledged ht system.   The next parts I want to add to my system are a subwoofer or a center channel speaker.   I found out that some centers that I was considering for my system are on sale now.   The RP 500C II and the 504C II.   The 504 would be about 200 Euro more expensive than the 500.   Budget wise I could afford both.  The space below my TV also should be ample for either of them.  I need to double-check for the final confirmation.   What do you guys think would it worth to get the 504 or would be the 500 ample to give great results in a 25 square meter room?
    • No. Only the one in red cirlcle. But the heart beating went away. The problem now it’s that the amplifier shut down if I raise volume more than 60%. If I stay under the 60% the subwoofer works fine and don’t shut down ever. This is a strange problem. Only when it needs more juice it’s when he shuts down. Anyone know what piece its defective that shuts down when the amp needs more power? Thanks…
    • Some people like to use two different amplifiers, for example, a tube amplifier for the HF section and a solid state amplifier for the woofer. You will need a separate preamp to do this. This is horizontal passive biamping.    You can also use two of the same type amplifier, and vertically biamp using a Y-cable from the preouts of the preamp.     If you have a HT receiver, some allow you to dedicate an unused channel for this - to deliver more power to the speaker.   I prefer one good quality integrated amplifier over passive biamping.
    • Following this conversation and am intrigued by the different perspectives.
    • I love it when people/critics who have no idea of what it cost to maintain a particular long term business, to keep the doors open, to provide jobs with benefits/insurance, to maintain engineering research and development of new products, advertising cost, support the products during and after warranty, to offer updates when possible to older models, etc….. but have never walked in the shoes of whom they would criticize and judge.   Are there greedy price gouging companies..? Of course and it can make us consumers very jaded and doubting but we need to be careful not to judge the needs of a company to survive without fully understanding their overhead expenses and the challenges they face as times change.   I speak from the perspective of having been part of a family business that survived for over 20 years in the electronics sales and service industry and as times changed and the cost of keeping the doors open while trying to pay a descent wage with very modest benefits (and don’t even think about even being able to offer anything more than the most basic insurance). Eventually it became unsustainable and believe me we sacrificed for many years but it was beyond our control due to the changes in electronics reliability, throw away mentality due to low cost manufacturing and unfair trade practices that allowed unfair foreign competition practices among many other factors and the result was to watch all the businesses like ours close and the distributors that supplied us close and the manufacturers had to merge/sale or close down.     So one of the most frustrating things for me was to have people who would come to our business and buy parts from me and basically use my inventory and try to use my experience/knowledge to do their “businesses from their homes”. Then there were the self-believing experts who looked from the outside at our business and say we were ridiculously pricing our goods and services all while we were barely keeping the doors open to survive for better times that never came.   So @mopardave just keep looking from the outside and criticizing Klipsch “since you obviously have all the answers” and please try to remember their are real people there just trying to survive in these times for better times which I truly hope happens for them.    miketn
    • Did you also replace the 2 big caps in front of it ?  I was also getting the same sound, replaced the same cap you mentioned and now mine went complete dead. I had to take out the 2 big caps and put the same back in, in order to get to that remote small cap.    Mine was dead for the past year. I brought it to life after replacing the burnt resistor and the surrounding 3 caps. The led light had started to come on with the weird clamping sound intermittently. Now it’s all dead again with no led.
    • Good evening everyone and Merry 2024 Christmas. I have. RSW12 sub and noticed it cuts out on low notes or higher volume. During low volume runs, it seems to work just fine. Just wondering where I should start to look to diagnose the problem. I bought it new 20 years ago and it has done a good job this long. If it’s time to get a new one, what is everyone recommending or should I spend the money repairing this one?
