    • I have the RP 500C II center speaker. Certain movie scenes, the bass makes this speaker give an unpleasant reverberation/vibration, even at modest volume levels.  I've tried moving it further away from any objects but doesn't make much of a difference. Receiver is Denon 3700H, Audyssey set the crossover to 40hz, I changed it to 80 but still can't get no satisfaction.  Other speakers don't have this problem. I've tried changing some AVR settings, like Cinema EQ, Multi EQ settings etc but they don't eliminate it. The Audyssey LFC feature reduces it significantly, but then the surround effect and bass sound too low, especially as you increase volume. Subs are set 25% of the way up, so they're not at a high setting. This wasn't a problem with the old Sony speaker it replaced.   What am I missing, what else can I try to address this without compromising the overall sound?
    • That's more like it.

    • Your Onkyo is rated at 130 watts/2 ch driven.  That is plenty of power for speaker with a sensitivity of 98 db.  The Marantz is not as powerful but, more than enough for most people with those speakers unless you are in a very large room.
    • You mentioned Vincent. I love my Vincent SVK mk2. I agree, even though efficient they prefer a decent amount of watts. 2.5 watt Decware SET got very loud but so unforgiving of anything but stellar recordings. Yamaha AS2200 was ok but a little flat and tone controls not very effective.klipsch need good tone controls and Vincent's are stellar and even has a loudness button. For this reason, I recommend powerful vintage amps as well. I'd stay away from Yamaha but Sansui, Marantz or Mcintosh would probably be great. My Yamaha worked with my HT but I found my Denon 4806 sounds better running all channels itself so since no main in on Vincent I just switch speaker cables for AV vs. 2 channel listening. Vincent is also Class A which I highly recommend with Klipsch heritage as it was a real game changer for me.
    • The Choice depends on room size, looks, HT setup (#speakers, amplification and other things.
    • I tried a Decware SET and Yamaha AS2200 before I settled on a hybrid Vincent SV-237 MK 2. I find my Forte IVs need good tone controls to get the sound I wanted and the Vincent brings the bass and makes these unforgiving speakers more forgiving. Dacs not nearly as important as amp, but in general you want both to be on the warm side. Tried Gustard R26. Doge 7 tube with nos Telefunkens and GEC's, and dac in iFi NEO stream and internal Vincent both which I believe are burr brown which I find plenty good enough as I think these speakers are all about dynamics and hitting loudness button and setting tone controls works on any of these dacs to get the sound I want (strong bass and smooth treble). Having been down the rabbit hole, amp matching is the key and not sure why people shunned tone contols in favor of fancy dacs and cabled that are far less effective/important to getting the desired sound. I mostly just run analog out of the Neo streamer as the additional detail of the r26 just sounds unnecessarily busy to me for lack of a better term. Put the Doge in another system where I wanted tubes (Vincent already has tube pre). Will keep Doge and may sell the Gustard.
