Most streamers will have built in DACs. With the example I referenced or with the item you referenced, both have built in DACs, so you could run the streamer without the SMSL. You can hook up the streamer via TOSLINK and see if it makes a difference. You would have to try is both ways to see if there is a difference to you. Most importantly, if you are streaming MQA quality music, you will need to use both devices as I do not believe the WIIM you referenced decodes MQA. If you are not streaming MQA, then you will probably get by fine with just the WIIM.

I´m completely innocent Dave. I thought that the forum was set offline from the management but good to see that it wasn´t. In these modern times of viral communities, Tiktok, Facebook , Instagramm etc. a classical forum like this is old fashioned. Well , I got my sec. surgery behind me and I recover fast and well. My marriage is still not divorced, the German courts are so overloaded that a divorce in our country can take up to two years. Obviously this is the case with me . It no longer bother me either. At the moment I'm trying to find a job again and have sent out a few applications and already had my first personal interviews. I think I will soon be able to sign an employment contract, as I still have 4 years until I retire. Let's see what happens. My vinyl collection is constantly growing because a sec.hand record store opened in my town several months ago. The selection is good, the prices are fair and the quality of the vinyl is excellent. As a rule, I only have to wash the used records once and they are as good as new. I´ll be back as soon as I can .... -
